Learn How Jacksonville Beach Area Business Tax Receipt Requirements May Impact You

Jacksonville Beach, FL greeting

Local Business Tax Receipts are required if you engage in or manage any business or profession or perform any occupation within the city limits of Atlantic, Neptune or Jacksonville Beach. This is in addition to your Duval County business license or tax receipt. If you have more than one location or provide more than one service, you are required to pay a local business tax for each.

St. John’s County businesses need a county local business tax receipt. There is no additional city license requirement.

Some businesses will be required to pay a local business tax for each state-licensed professional working under their business name or at their business location. Other businesses have tax based on the square footage of the business premises. Individual professions such as beauticians, insurance agents and real estate agents and other professionals that are regulated by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation have fixed tax rates. Home-based businesses are also required to obtain a local business tax receipt.

All receipts have a specific expiration each year and renewal notices are provided annually. Local business taxes not paid by the due date are subject to penalties on a graduating scale. Half-year taxes are charged for new businesses that open after April 1, for the remainder of the Receipt Tax year.
